Welcome to True You Nutrition

Hello, my name is Laura Douglas and I love what I do!  I am a Moira (Co.Down/Co Armagh) based Registered Nutritional Therapist and Health & Wellness Coach working with busy, fatigued mums who more often than not, find looking after themselves at the bottom of their priority list.  This is common for us mums, juggling hectic schedules between family commitments, career and the many other tasks faced on a daily basis. When do we really get the time to think about ourselves, let alone look after ourselves?

The answer is NOW! You are the centre, the glue holding your family together. If you are ill, who will look after the children, the house, the meals?  It is of great importance that you start to realise the value of looking after yourself; make it a priority. In doing so, I have no doubt it will start to benefit the whole family.

You can't change your health overnight. However with nutrition and lifestyle support combined with coaching, I can help you start to feel like yourself again, one day at a time.  This is very achievable, however most people require guidance and support to help get them started.  I'd love to help you!  I love seeing my clients transform their lives, bringing back their sparkle, improving their health and boosting their energy levels.

Help yourself today and take the first step by booking your complimentary 20 minute Health & Energy Assessment.

I look forward to working with you!

Laura

About Me

I know I've already mentioned it, but I really do love what I do! Having spent the last 13 years in the teaching profession educating young people through both Food Technology and Food Preparation & Nutrition, I have always demonstrated a passion and dedication to nutrition and health, and to ensuring that the next generation are equipped to prepare and cook healthy family meals from scratch in the ever increasing age of convenience and processed foods which vastly consume our supermarket shelves.

However, being a mum to a 4 year old has certainly changed my life, for the better of course.  It has opened my eyes to the ever increasing challenges of juggling both a family and career whilst ensuring that our family meals still provide the nutrition our bodies so desperately require to allow us to perform at our best, especially now that a full nights sleep has long become a thing of the past.

My interest in holistic nutrition grew after being diagnosed in 2007  with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).  I was offered a prescription to help with the symptoms but nothing to help get to the root cause of the problem. Consulting a Nutritional Therapist, my case history and tests confirmed candida and adrenal fatigue were attributing to the symptoms I was experiencing.  After my first consultation with a Nutritional Therapist I realised how much I wanted to develop my knowledge to help myself achieve a better quality of health and lifestyle and with this, decided to enrol at the College of Naturopathic Medicine to study Naturopathic Nutrition.

I am also an Exercise To Music and Zumba instructor.  I am a firm believer that it is not only what we put in our bodies that affects both our physical and mental health. Exercise of a social nature and something that you love and enjoy doing can do so much more than just keep you fit.  It helps to boost endorphins, free the mind and relieve stress, providing a physical, mental and emotional release.  I still regularly teach and manage Zumba classes in Leytonstone, South Woodford and Woodford.

I am a Full member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition & Nutritional Therapy (BANT), membership number: DOU1003501
I am also a member of the Complimentary & Natural Healthcare Council, membership number: 000060-I17

Testimonials

Laura is fantastic! The guidance I have received on managing my PCOS has been so valuable. Not only did I learn so much more about PCOS and my body, I was given a tailored and practical nutrition and lifestyle plan to follow. The best thing about this was that Laura really took the time to learn about my lifestyle and made sure that the plan would be as easy to implement for me as possible. By following Laura's guidance I have been able to control my symptoms naturally and feel more positive and have more energy!

After being diagnosed with a B12 deficiency, IBS and anxiety, I decided to seek an alternative to medication prescribed by my GP.  I was so pleased to discover Laura Douglas, and after having met her for the first time, gave me a sense of hope.  My consultations provided me with naturopathic ways in which I could begin to change my lifestyle for the better, and in effect support me on my road to recovery.  Laura continues to support me in this ongoing journey with her expertise in her caring and thorough manner.  I cannot thank her enough for what she has done for me!

We have been working closely with Laura for the past 8 weeks whilst we wait for a referral to a skin specialist for my little ones skin. If it was not for Laura and her amazingly advice on diet, her support and fantastic tips, my daughter would still be irritable, not sleeping great and making her herself bleed from scratching so much. Laura helped us when the doctors were at a lost what was causing my daughters skin complaint. My daughter now only itches once in a blue moon and she is now a fantastic sleeper. We have ditched the steroid creams, bath ointments and piriton too. I am so thankful we found Laura as without her we would not be where we are today. Thank you Laura for being so knowledgeable and good at your job.  I highly recommend Laura at True You Nutrition.
